Valencia CF's six demanding preseason fixtures
The 2019/20 preseason is just around the corner, and the summer is set to be a highly competitive one for Valencia CF. The team will get things underway on Monday, July 9th at the Ciudad Deportiva, have a brief training camp at Crans-Montana (Switzerland) and play six friendly games in different parts of Europe.
The players and coaching staff will touch down in Switzerland on July 19th, and the following day will participate in the Alps Football Festival against AS Monaco at 5pm local time.
Three days later, on July 23rd, they meet FC Sion (6:45pm local time) from the Swiss Superleague. Both of Valencia CF's initial opponents will have played several preseason games beforehand, coming into the contests in a more advanced stage of their summer preparations.
Portuguese opposition is next up for Marcelino's men, as on July 28th at 7pm local time they take on Sporting Clube de Portugal. It will be an encounter between cup winners, as VCF are the reigning Copa del Rey holders and the Lisbon-based team won last season's Allianz Cup (Taça da Liga) and Taça de Portugal.
A homage to former Valencia CF player Bruno Saltor, who recently retired at the age of 38, starts off August. On the 2nd of the month, Valencia CF travel to the Amex Stadium for a game with another of Bruno's former clubs, Brighton & Hove Albion. They play the FA Cup semifinalists at 7pm local time.
Two games against Champions League-calibre opposition round off the preseason: Valencia CF visit Germany to square up against the Bundesliga's fourth placed side, Bayer 04 Leverkusen, at 2pm on August 4th, in the home team's presentation game. Then it is back to Mestalla for the bwin Trofeo Naranja against FC Internazionale on August 10th, capping off a demanding preseason against the Italian side before the LaLiga season gets underway the following weekend.
