The defender talks at the opening of the pitch in Aldaia
Valencia CF centre back César Tárrega was one of the stars at the inauguration of the Jaume Ortí Municipal Sports Centre football pitch. The Aldaia-born defender spoke to the media about the exciting event and the current situation for the team.
The inauguration of the football pitch
“It's very special to come back here, to see it again as it should be. It's also special because I've lived here for a long time. I know how important it is for children to enjoy the sport we love so much again. I'm very emotional about it.”
Support for Valencia CF in Aldaia
“Valencia CF matches are a big event. We see that every weekend when Mestalla is packed, and all fans we have. It's very important to see those gestures. Every time you walk down the street and someone asks for an autograph or a photo, it's very special. As a child, I also asked players for autographs, and having kids do it to you says a lot about what we're doing. I'm very happy about that. I have to keep working to bring more joy to the fans.”
The match against UD Las Palmas
“Every match is important. This weekend's game is vital. We want, as always, to get the three points, and we're working very hard this week to get them on Saturday.”
His possible contract renewal with Valencia CF
“I'm very comfortable this season. From the very beginning, the trust that both the coaching staff and my teammates have shown me has made me feel very comfortable, both on and off the pitch. I'm focused on achieving our target and continuing to help the team. The contract renewal is a matter being handled by my agents. Of course, I want to renew with Valencia CF. It's the dream I've always had since I was little: To play here. I hope to continue fulfilling it.”
Consistency in his individual performances
“We also have to work on the mental aspect. People always talk about physical, technical, and tactical aspects, but these days the psychological aspect is very important. We have a key figure here in the form of the club's psychologist; he helps us a lot during slumps in results and the DANA. Mental strength is something that has defined the entire team throughout the year and is the key to where we are today.”
