Cömert: "The win is a big reward for us and the fans"

The centre back looks at the Matchday 27 victory

Defender Eray Cömert reacted to his contribution in the  3-2 win against Deportivo Alavés.

The important victory

I'm very happy with the team for taking the three points at home. It was very important for us today, especially since it wasn't our best performance, but we have to keep going and we have to work harder.

Fighting until the end

Of course, it's a big win, but thanks also to our fans -who really pushed us after the equaliser. It was with that confidence we wanted to score the third goal, and in the end we got it to take the three points.

A confidence boost

We controlled the game a lot, but we -myself included- also misplaced some very easy passes we don't usually do. That feeling gives the other team a bit more confidence. Then they scored their second goal, and it was also my man; I lost track of him. That's why I'm even happier to have got the equaliser and help my team. We have to keep going, we have to keep pushing, and we have to work harder to avoid misplacing these easy passes.

I think it's just a matter of concentration, because we have the quality in the team. We controlled the game a lot. Control is one thing, but then you have to go for goals. I think we need to do a little more in that area.

His goal

I'm very happy to have helped the team, and even more so because Alavés' second goal was scored by the player I was supposed to mark. That's why I'm so much happier to have helped my team. I think it's more important that we got the three points than my goal.

The impact of the win

It's very important. We have to win games at Mestalla, because this is our home. Teams that come here need to feel that it's difficult to get anything from playing us. This makes us stronger.
