Beltrán: "A draw would have been a fairer result"
The forward talks after the loss to Atletico Madrid
Valencia CF's Matchday 16 goalscorer, Lucas Beltrán, spoke after his first strike for the club -in the losing effort against Atletico Madrid.
The game
“We didn’t deserve this result. We played very well in the first half; we had a lot of possession, although we didn’t really do them damage. We controlled the tempo of the game, but they scored from a corner, and after that we started playing more again and found the equaliser. Then we sat back a bit, and with the quality they have, it’s difficult to do that -because they find scoring opportunities easily.”
The result
“A draw would have been the fairest result, because we did enough to deserve that. It was a very even match, and they won it based on small margins. We have to take away the positives and try to win the next few games -because we need to do that.”
His first goal for Valencia CF
“I’m happy about it, but we need points and that’s my biggest concern. We’ll work all week to get them next time.”
The upcoming games
“The match against RCD Mallorca will be huge for us, but first we have the Copa del Rey, which is also important.”
