Corberán: “I have felt the energy in the group and the desire to return to Mestalla”
The Valencia CF coach talks before the game with CD Leganés
Valencia CF coach Carlos Corberán spoke ahead of Sunday’s afternoon kickoff in LaLiga against CD Leganés at Mestalla.
The team
“The fact that there is not much time between one game and another means that there is no time to lament the situation. The only objective is to get back up and be ready for the next one. I have felt the energy in the group and the desire to return to Mestalla and heal that wound.”
Pepelu
“He is a very important player. He works hard every day to be at his best. All the players want to feel proud of their performance on the pitch, and the more players feel proud of their performance and dedication, the better -because we will be closer to achieving our objectives.”
Hugo Duro
“He has been training with the medical services, today he completed the session with the group and he is fit for tomorrow.”
His plan for the game
“We have to continue growing and we are working towards that. We want to continue developing the team in attack and defence. Our objective is always to grow.”
Foulquier
“He had a problem with his abductor. His recovery has been positive, but he will not be there tomorrow.”
CD Leganés
“Leganés are a team that have been doing things well, but we focus on ourselves. To achieve the desired results there is preparation, tension, attitude and self-esteem to compete. To all this we must also add the understanding of the game.”
Matches against FC Barcelona
“Games have situations that must be resolved in real time, and there are occasions when one must learn from one's own mistakes to correct them. In both games Barça created offensive situations that we were not able to respond to appropriately. We have analysed and understood them.”
Squad
“The players want to give their best for the fans and Mestalla. I have felt it, seen it and experienced it.”
The influence of Mestalla
“The fans are aware of their importance and in each game they have shown us that they are very important. They know the role they have for us, and they have responded accordingly in every game. The fans don't want to boo the team; they are really keen to applaud the team for our attitude and performance, and that depends on us. The players really want to give the fans what they feel they deserve, because they know how important Mestalla and our fans are to us."
Diakhaby
"My way of working is to consider that each of my players is fundamental. You always have to work to get the most out of them. They have to work every day for that, and for them to be proud of their performance on the pitch. We don't consider anything else other than that."
Rafa Mir
"He's coming off a period out through injury, so the more work and minutes he gets, the closer he'll be to his best."
