Duro: "We deserved this"
The striker comments on his winning strike against Levante UD
Valencia CF's win against Levante UD came thanks to a Hugo Duro goal, and the forward spoke after the game to VCF Media.
His fantastic goal
Sometimes Gayà complains that he puts those crosses a metre away from an empty net. Today I had to work a little harder, but the important thing is the goal, the victory, the three points, and that everyone's happy.
I don't know if José intended to put the ball in for me, because I had been very close to him to lay it off and I stayed back. I think the only way I could finish was that way, and luckily I converted.
A much-needed victory
We needed to win, to have this joy. I think everyone needed it. We've been working for a long time, and it's very hard, so, like I said, let's enjoy it now.
Three important points
I think it's very important to pick up points, to play games like this. I also want to say that many times you don’t win these matches, but I think the team's performance has been good, in terms of the way we’ve competed and the goals we’ve scored.
I was on the bench and I wanted to come on right away, because I was getting envious of my teammates and wanted to try to help them as soon as possible. I loved seeing the team fight for the win.
The way forward
Many times you work to achieve what we did tonight, you don't succeed, and it seems like you're not doing the right thing. But this is the path to follow. It's tough, it's difficult, and there’s no promise in La Liga that just by working hard you'll win, so we have to keep moving in this direction. Sometimes we'll win, sometimes we won't, but we have to keep going like this, which is the least we need to do.
Mestalla
The fans were spectacular. It sounds like we’re repeating ourselves, but I want to thank them. I think the best feeling is having your name chanted at this stadium. It's spectacular, so I want them to enjoy it, have a good Friday night -a long one- and we’ll see them at the next game.
