Anil Murthy outlines VCF summer signing strategy
Valencia CF president Anil Murthy welcomed Jason to Valencia CF at the player's official unveiling and press conference on Monday afternoon, and spoke to the media to give the lowdown on the summer strategy for the club.
"Jason is a versatile player who has come to Valencia CF to help the team wherever he is needed. He's the first arrival that we are presenting to you, and yet another example of the great job being done by the Sporting Management," Murthy told journalists.
"In a 'crazy' transfer market in which we are competing with clubs prepared to spend exhorbitant amounts of money for players, Valencia CF are making intelligent moves, signing a great player like Jason at no cost. It isn't easy to sign a player of this level on a free transfer, and to do that you need to be ahead of other clubs. A great job is being done."
Asked about the overall strategy, the Valencia CF president said that: "We want to continue to be a sustainable club, working together and making decisions based on consensus in order to put together another very competitive squad, so that we can provide enjoyment for the fans as we have done over the past two years."
"We are all very excited, from (majority shareholder) Peter Lim to the fans, as has been demonstrated by the success of the season ticket renewal campaign. There are only two days to go in the renewal process, and the pace at which fans are applying has been very good. If it continues like this, then there will not be the option of new season ticket holders signing up, except for the revamped Grada Joven, where - like in the rest of Mestalla - there is no room for violent people. Together we continue to grow."
