Anil Murthy: “We have to do more to boost the growth of women’s football”
Valencia CF president Anil Murthy spoke at the inauguration of the ‘Elles som tots’ at the Luis Fortich School in Valencia -one of the participating centres in the VCF Foundation’s Escoles Cor Blanquinegre project.
In his speech presenting the exhibition, which shows the history of VCF Femenino, Mr. Murthy highlighted the “new cultural and education dimension” of the project this season, and encouraged fans of all ages to visit the display of photos and artefacts.

“Women's football in Spain is growing. This is thanks to everybody's commitment, but above all the authorities and clubs. More sponsors are being obtained, as well as more backing in general,” he stated.
“However, we are still a long way off many other European countries.
In my opinion, women's football is a reflection of society and what society wants. We have to do much more, collectively, to give these young girls the opportunity and possibility of fulfilling their dreams. It depends on all of us.”

“We have to do much more to push this growth. For us, everything has to start with youth football. Here in the Valencia region, all girls and young women who have this dream can make it come true. We, as Valencia CF, are going to give them the opportunity. For this reason, we have decided to remodel the youth system that we have, to help young girls be able to make their dreams come true and form part of the Valencia CF family.”

In closing, the Valencia CF president said that “We invite you to visit the exhibition , especially those who have young girls in your families, so that they can discover and admire the great work that women do in sport, including our players. I know that they have a much more difficult life, because they have to work, study and travel very long distances at times, just to play before coming back the next day to work. It's a difficult life, and our players are doing a great job. We have to support them more. Thank you and Junts Anem Amunt!”
