Cavani's blistering goalscoring form continues
Edinson Cavani has been one of the most influential players of the season for Valencia CF and has already reached the figure of 5 goals as a Valencianista. The Uruguayan striker has returned from the World Cup with his eye for goal intact and was on target again last Saturday against Villarreal CF. In fact, that goal helped him reach a couple of statistical milestones in LaLiga.
Since Fernando Morientes stint in 2006, the 'Matador' has been the first player to score five LaLiga goals in his first eight games for Valencia CF. On the other hand, at 35 years and 320 days, Cavani has become the second oldest player to score his first five LaLiga goals in the entire 21st century (eight games).
So far, Villarreal, Mallorca, Sevilla and Elche (x2) have fallen victim of the Uruguayan as Cavani has netted a goal every 103 minutes, a record on par with historic Club strikers such as Mundo, Villa and Kempes.
