Celades: "The team found it very hard to react today"
Albert Celades was the first to express his disappointment with the defeat for Valencia CF at the hands of RCD Mallorca, and insisted that an improvement was necessary for the team to get back to their best.
“It's a heavy defeat that doesn't leave us feeling good. I don't think that we approached the game with the necessary involvement. They scored from the first move of the game. This team, who have always had a very good ability to react to adversity and difficulties in many games, found it very hard to react today. The next chance resulted in another goal. Mallorca were very effective, but besides that bad start we had -which wasn't adequate for a game of this level- we didn't have a reaction and it was all much harder for us," was the coach's analysis of the performance, which comes off the back of a loss in the Spanish Supercopa to Real Madrid.
"Of course it concerns us. It's the second consecutive time that we've had a bad game and not been at the level we are capable of showing. Of course it worries us, as it should. A team like ours, at a club like ours and with players like we have, should do much more."
“Our idea is to pick ourselves back up. I have a lot of confidence in this group," said Celades.
"However, the defeat is fresh in the mind and the feeling isn't good. We'd like to concede fewer goals; if we want to move up the table, then the amount of goals we have conceded is high. We've let in too many in the last two games. We are also scoring few goals, despite having many chances during the games. With the level of our team and of our strikers, I'd like us to have more goals."
