Celades: "The way to pick the team up is with hard work and unity"
Valencia CF coach Albert Celades evaluated his side's defeat at the Camp Nou, and the determination of his players in the game against FC Barcelona.
The match
"We conceded two goals very quickly at the start of the game, and against a side like this it's difficult to turn that around, but we regrouped well, scored and could even have got another goal. We had a good feeling at halftime, but the start to the second half hurt us. Despite the result, we wanted it until the end, and that's why we scored the goal in injury time."
"We had a bad start, but I always believed that we could do well. The team reacted well after it was 2-0, we improved and we ended up playing the rest of the first half at a good level. However, we started the second half with problems -although the players kept on trying until the final whistle."
Lifting the dressing room morale
"The way to pick the team up is with hard work. We are going to work as best we can to turn this situation around. We need to stick together and all push in the same direction, accepting the reality of the situation."
Maxi Gómez
"He had a phenomenal attitude. He managed to score, he's a player with very specific characteristics and we are delighted to have him in the squad."
