Cömert: "It's an amazing experience. Not every player gets to play at a world cup, so I'm really proud to be here”

Eray Cömert will play a crucial match for Switzerland in the Qatar 2022 World Cup this Friday. He still had time for a chat with VCF MEDIA to say a few words to the Valencia CF fans.
His first World Cup
“It's an amazing experience. Not every player gets to play at a world cup, so I'm really proud to be here and represent my country. My dream is still very far away. The first step is to get past the group stage, then after that anything is possible”.
Squad competition
“We have a really good team with a lot of experience. We have a lot of players who play with great clubs in good leagues. There is a lot of competition in the squad. I'm always prepared to play. In the first game I came on at left-back. Normally it isn't my position but I was ready. The position I play is not important. The most important thing is to come on and help the team to win the game and that's what happened in the first game”.
The Serbia game
“For us, it is important that we go and win this game. It's in our hands. It's a big game. A final. For them and for us. I think we have a really good team and we are prepared for this game”.
His role
“I am very young. We have a lot of experience so I know my role. I am always prepared”.
Playing for Valencia CF
“I came to Valencia without playing many games. I knew I had to adapt. I was also thinking about how I was playing in a new league with a new club. A bigger league and a higher level. These 3 or 4 months have helped me a lot and now I am ready. I like the system and style that the coach wants to play. It's perfect for me. Now I'm ready”.
Working with Gattuso
“I knew when he arrived at Valencia CF that it was a new opportunity for me. Everything started at zero. I want to give 100% to fight for my place and I like the way he wants us to play football. To play with the ball and to press high. I like this style of football. It gives the players confidence. Not just to me but to every player in the team. It's amazing. We want to fight for him. He gives across an 'aura', a personality. As players, we feel this on the pitch and we fight until the end”.
Family
“We are like a family. We are a really good group. I wish all the other Valencia CF players at the World Cup the best of luck. Right now my concentration is on the World Cup and that is the most important thing for me”.
Gayà injury
“I wrote to him and gave him my support. I'm always with him. I told him to stay positive. It's not easy because it was his first World Cup. When you miss a World Cup with an injury, it's a bad moment for every player. As a team, we are with him. We have all spoken to him. I'm sure he is strong-minded. He will be positive and back on the pitch soon”.
Second half of season
“After the World Cup we want to play like we did against Real Betis. We want to win and show the fans that we are a good team”.
Message to the fans
“I'm really happy to have received all of the messages from the Valencia CF fans. I am proud to get these messages. I am really happy and I want to say thank you”.
