Diego López: "It’s an honour to continue at Valencia CF and form part of this great family"
The young Asturian forward showed his satisfaction with extending his ties with Valencia CF after arriving at the VCF Academy back in 2021 and breaking into the first-team squad last season.
Happy and grateful
I’m very happy and very grateful to the club for the confidence they’ve shown in me. I’m looking forward to repaying that on the pitch. It’s an honour to play here, because of the club’s history. It’s an honour to be here and to form part of this family.
VCF Academy
It's an honour to play here, because of the club's history. At VCF Mestalla I learned a lot from my teammates and the people who've helped me. Thankfully I've been able to take the step up and have the coach's trust.
Breaking into the first team
I'm still a little bit in shock because so much has happened in so little time. In my case, I went from suffering a hamstring strain in February to scoring a goal against Real Madrid at Mestalla in May to win a massive game.

Rubén Baraja
The coach's bravery to play young, inexperienced players in the final games says a lot about his character. Thanks to him, I'm here. I'll always be very grateful.
My childhood idol
David Villa has always been my idol. He's been an example to follow. We have Angulo here, who was my coach for two years.

A new season
I hope that everything goes as well as the last season ended. I want consistency and to be the way I am. I'll keep working every day. The aim now is to continue to improve and we'll stick together.
Fanbase
I am proud of the support that the fans gave us at the end of the season. It was a tough time, and they travelled en masse. At Elche, I went onto the pitch and I was amazed by how many of them there were. They also went to Cádiz, Celta and at Mestalla, they made it a fortress. The energy was contagious and they made it possible for us to get through the situation.
