Form creates a strong case for VCF's Champions League aspirations
After the win in the derby, Valencia CF are closing in on fourth place in the LaLiga table. The position, which gives access to the Champions League for next season, is currently occupied by Sevilla FC, who won their own derby against Real Betis on Matchday 32.
The difference between the two sides is just three points, but Valencia CF are the team in the better form. They have picked up 26 points in the second half of the season, the fourth best in the Spanish top flight.
Only FC Barcelona (+5 points), Atletico Madrid (+1) and Real Madrid (+1, with a game in hand) have claimed more points since the second stage of the competition got underway.

“The team are in good form physically, mentally and in terms of our football, having suffered during this season," said coach Marcelino after the 3-1 win against Levante. His team have lost just once in their last 20 games in all competitions, and continue to make their way up the LaLiga standings.
Six games remain in the domestic league before the end of the season, and the objective is to qualify for the Champions League for the second consecutive year.
