Corberán: “It’s time to compete and to give our all”
The coach looks ahead to the game against Deportivo Alavés
For the past eight years, Gabriel Paulista has helped out those most in need in his childhood neighbourhood in Brazil, and he has increased his support for them during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The defender has provided Jardim Mitsutani and Jardim Eledy in Sao Paulo with 5,000 boxes of basic foodstuffs, as many in those deprived parts of the city are struggling to earn money to eat during this difficult time.
Paulista spent the formative years of his career with Esporte Clube Eledy, a small team in the neighbourhood that barely had training equipment. He makes annual donations of kit to the club, along with his former coach Clebinho, and organises the club's trips close to Sao Paulo for tournaments.
With it being Easter week, the Valencia CF player has also sent over a little something extra: 3,000 Easter eggs to distrbute amongst families.
The food parcels are being delivered over a three-week period, due to the large quantity being donated. Paulista remains close to his roots, even when over 8,500km away in Valencia.
