Gameiro's history of late-season goals
Kevin Gameiro has a history of making the difference in the latter stages of LaLiga seasons, and so the restart of the season for a final 'sprint' is almost tailor made for the Frenchman. The striker scored last season in the Copa del Rey final, and has made an impact in the closing encounters of several campaigns for other clubs.
Valencia CF need to win as many games as possible to achieve their aim of qualifying for the Champions League, and that was precisely the aim for Sevilla when Gameiro played for them in 2013/14.
He scored a total of 8 goals in the final 11 matches in LaLiga that season; an impressive return, especially taking into account that he missed the last two games.
Valencia CF's next opponents are one of the teams against who he has been prolific, having scored twice against Levante UD in the derby held at the Ciutat de Valencia. The mission will be to provide more of the same to get the campaign back undwerway in style.
