Gattuso's men: Bruno Dominici, fitness coach
Bruno Dominici, Valencia CF's chief fitness coach, spoke to VCF MEDIA during the World Cup break to talk about how he is preparing the squad for a return to action and the work that is being carried out in such an exceptional period of the season, in which the competition has stopped for the celebration of the World Cup in Qatar 2022.
A second preseason
This is a second preseason. It's shorter than the first. We planned everything in July for the first few months of the season, and now we have time to work a lot with the players that we have here. We have 3/4 of the squad here.
Different friendlies
The friendlies are all about the training, not the games themselves. We're also working a little on strength in this period.
Keys during World Cup break
We used the break to rest, first of all. Then we are working in the second half. We want to get into January in good shape. This can help you. It's not a problem for me. You use the time to rest and to work,
A preseason halfway through preseason
"It's different to preseason, because now we know the players and the team. It's easier for us. We have to always give a small rest period, then we can start working afterwards.
A Tailor-made plan for each player
We have everything planned. Every day we have a specific task. The coach always wants to see the fitness stats from the sessions, because sometimes we need a little more work. That's why it's important to always look at the data, because you have to plan the week before the game.
Comunication with the Medical staff
Of the general plan for players, who may be carrying injuries or suffering from fatigue, Dominici said that "The communication between the coaching staff and medical staff means we speak 3-4 times a day. We talk about all of the players, because we have to decide what is best for everyone."
