Get to know Kevin Gameiro's idol
Gameiro’s home was always full of football. He wanted to be a profesional footballer from a very Young age, so he looked up to top strikers like Marco Simone, Pauleta or Brazilian Ronaldo, but his idol was born in his own country and his name is Jean Pierre Papin.
Papin was one of the most brilliant scorers of Europe’s 80’s and 90’s. He actually won the “Golden ball” in 1991 achieving his best numbers with Olympique de Marsella, where he scored 134 goals in 215 matches, before playing with AC Milan, Bayern de Munich or Girondins de Burdeos.
During those times Gameiro was only a kid but he fell in love with the footballer’s style of play. era un niño, pero le enamoró como futbolista.
In the 2006.07 season his idol became his coach at RC Strasbourg. With him he talked a lot about aspects to improve as a striker and they even "competed" in training to see who finished better in front of the goal. His advice made him to improve and keep growing year after year, which has allowed him to reach Valencia CF this season.
