Spain aim to top Group A at the U21 EURO
Cristhian Mosquera, César Tárrega, Javi Guerra and Diego López target victory against Italy
Maxi Gómez' competitive character doesn't allow him to treat any game like a friendly. The striker celebrated his two goals against Villarreal CF effusively, as he got off the mark for the summer and gave victory to Valencia CF on Friday night.
His first goal came from a header -one of his specialities, as he scored four times with his head last season between LaLiga (3) and the Copa del Rey (1). A corner from Vicente Esquerdo found the battling Uruguayan inside the area, and he put the ball into the net. Earlier in the game, he had seen another header kept out by opposition goalkeeper Sergio Asenjo.
Just minutes later, Gómez scored a second goal, this time reading a run from Gonçalo Guedes to perfection. The Portuguese made his move and crossed in, as Gómez broke away from the defence to strike with his left foot, completing his brace.
