Guedes: "It was a great game individually and collectively"
He was the protagonist in the three goals in the victory against Deportivo Alavés and was cheered by Mestalla. Gonçalo Guedes enjoyed a great match to help Valencia CF go unbeaten into the international break, and he talked after the game to give his views on the Matchday 3 win.
“Collectively, it was a great game. We did exactly what the coach asked of us. We go home very happy, because we enjoyed the game. We were intense and we started the way that we had planned at the beginning of the week,” he explained.
“I think that we did things well throughout the week and during the game. Things worked out well and it was a great game today. The three points are very important, and we go into the international break well placed in the table. That was the most important thing.”

“We knew that Deportivo Alavés had gone two games without scoring points, and we wanted to start strong. We scored a goal at the start, which makes things change. It was also important for us to score before half time, which helped us to be calmer. In the second half we knew that if we came out strong in the first 15 minutes and scored, we could kill the game off -and that's what we did.”

The Portuguese also acknowledged the intensity present in Valencia CF’s play, and how he hopes that this will continue.
“The most important thing is to try to maintain the highest level possible for as long as possible. It’s not possible to be pressing for 90 minutes at full intensity, but you have to try. You have to do what you can to be intense, strong and focused. That was what we tried to do. There are moments in a game in which you don’t manage that, but collectively it was a great game. The intensity was very good.”
