Guillamón: "The team tried until the end, but it wasn't to be"
Hugo Guillamón spoke with VCF Media after the final whistle in Valencia CF's loss to Atletico Madrid.

An unfortunate result
We knew it was going to be a difficult game, but the plan was clear. We wanted to be in the game at all times. When they took the lead, the team improved and we reached halftime into the match, with chances and with a goal disallowed. At the break we talked about how we had to continue like this. However, after the second goal, the game became an uphill struggle against a team in Atletico Madrid who don't let you off. The team tried until the end, but it wasn't to be.

Targeting a win against Rayo at Mestalla
The team are working very well. We are keen and motivated. I think there has been a change in mentality and we go out to compete and fight against any opponents. Today it wasn't to be. It is clear that it was a difficult game, but the team tried. Now we have to focus on the game against Rayo, at home in front of our fans, and we have to become strong.
