Jaume Domènech: “We will return to Mestalla with even more desire"
Jaume Domènech's fifth season in the Valencia CF first team has been interrupted at an untimely moment due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but the goalkeeper is drawing on his characteristic mental strength to get through the situation in isolation.
"We Valencians are tough people and we are following the indications given by the healthcare authorities," he told VCF Media on Friday. "People are obeying the lockdown, and soon we will be able to enjoy Valencia again and be together on the streets."
"I think that we are going to overcome this difficult situation, and that it is going to make us stronger. From the daily contact between the players and the coaching staff, everybody looks committed. That is going to generate a very strong desire to return to action, and a hunger for achieving our goals. I also think that the fans, because they haven't been able to see their team, will return to Mestalla with more desire as well. That connection will be very good for making us reach our objectives together."
Always a dedicated trainer, Jaume is undertaking a different routine to normal at home to keep him sharp.
"I train every morning in a small gym that I have at home, do some exercises with a ball, try to take very good care of what I eat and keep in shape, so that when we return I will be as fit as possible."
"I don't have time for much else in the day, because I have two children who are two months old, and we have to devote a lot of time to them," he said.
It his precisely his children who give him extra motivation during this trying time.
"I want to be able to enjoy time with them outside, because they were only born two months ago and have spent little time outdoors. I want to go out, take a walk, be in the fresh air and for them to enjoy the lovely weather that we have in Valencia."
