Spain aim to top Group A at the U21 EURO
Cristhian Mosquera, César Tárrega, Javi Guerra and Diego López target victory against Italy
Valencia CF were denied a late penalty against Getafe CF in one of the most controversial moments of Matchday 6. In the 87th minute, a Rodrigo header off a corner made its way towards goal, but was blocked on the line by Getafe's Marc Cucurella. The ball appeared to hit his arm before goalkeeper David Soria booted it away, but after consulting the VAR, referee Mr. Munuera Montero decided to take no action.
“I didn't see it from where I was," said Jaume Domenech after the match. "However, I was shown the move in the dressing room and it's very clear. There is no doubt about it. If it weren't for what was a clear penalty not being given by the referee, perhaps we could have earned the victory."
Maxi Gómez also weighed in, saying that "I saw it right in front of me. It hit him in the hand. I don't know why VAR is in place (if this call isn't given). Even the Getafe players confessed to me that it was a penalty."
