Marcelino: "The players got their reward for their behaviour and performance"
Marcelino García Toral reflected on Valencia CF's superb Saturday night comeback against Celta Vigo in his post-match press conference. The coach was happy with the performance and with the three points.
"The coach always tries to make changes that are for the good of the team. I was seeing a repeat of many previous games, in which we were the better side and had more chances but went behind from one of our opponents' few chances. However, in the second half we turned our chances into goals. I'm very happy for the players, because they deserve this reward for their great work. In the end, they got their just rewards for their behaviour and great performance," he explained
“There is a factor that we've modified since the last few games, and that is that we have been better in the second half than in the first. The idea was always to equalise and to win. We never settled and we did it. I hope this is a turning point, but it will all depend on victories. We are capable of picking ourselves up, we kept going and got a deserved win. Now we need to be able to have continuity."
“Many things get me emotional in moments of difficulty. The unity in the squad has been key and I feel proud of the players. This is a team that competes, that wants to win, and that has been denied this only by a lack of effectiveness. I'm sure that we are going to change this and that we will have continuity against Villarreal."
