Marcelino: "We were far superior overall"
Marcelino García Toral reacted to Valencia CF's 0-0 draw against Getafe CF in his post-match press conference, expressing the opinion that his side had deserved to take the three points.
The result
"I don't think there was much difference between this game and those against Real Sociedad and Espanyol. We were far superior to our opponents overall, but football is about effectiveness and goals. goals are what determine results, and in the league this year it seems as if we don't have the necessary effectiveness to turn complete superiority over our opponents -fourth in LaLiga- into goals and a victory."
Fouls and interruptions
"It is difficult to play as we did in the second half for the entire 90 minutes. Despite this, we had a shot hit the post from a set piece. However, there were a lot of interruptions and 21 free kicks awarded. The opposition are also a good side, they defend well and it was a question of us developing the game as we did. In the second half we were far superior to them. Everything is tight in this league, however, and it's very difficult to win. We are paying the price for having so many draws at home."
Fighting for the Champions League spots
"We have been performing at a high level, game after game. It's a pity that we didn't convert our chances, but with this way of playing, this attitude, ambition and mentality we are going to be in the fight for the Champions League spots. Without a doubt. I know that the fans will be frustrated about the result, but also very proud of the players. There is maximum equality between the teams. Every game from here to the end is important and decisive, so we will fight to win for the fans."
