History:
Valencia CF will be in midweek action in the new-look Spanish Super Cup semi-final at the King Abdullah Stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia against Real Madrid on Wednesday the 8th of January at 8 pm kick-off time (CET).
Valencia CF have crossed paths with Real Madrid on 213 occasions with a total of 60 wins, 45 draws and 108 losses. Valencia CF have not lost against Real Madrid in their last two meetings where they registered a 2-1 win at Mestalla on Matchday 30th and they were denied the win with a last-second equaliser on Matchday 17.
Valencia CF and Real Madrid have faced each other in the Spanish Super Cup in the 2008 final in a double-legged tie that saw Valencia CF register a 3-2 win in the first leg at Mestalla with David Villa, Juan Mata and Vicente Rodríguez as goalscorers.
However, Real Madrid beat Valencia in the second leg by a 4-2 with Fernando Morientes and David Silva as goalscorers for Valencia at the Santiago Bernabeu although it was not enough for Valencia CF to come away with the trophy.
