Valencia CF took on Real Valladolid CF on Sunday lunchtime at 2 pm kick-off time (CET) at the Nuevo Estadio José Zorrilla on Matchday 19 of LaLiga.
Valencia CF were quick the blocks as the game saw a high tempo at both ends in the first minutes of the opening period.
The first Valencia CF chance fell to Edinson Cavani who got on the end of a corner kick delivery, but Masip palmed the ball to safety from point-blank range.
Minutes later, Toni Lato was on the receiving end of a flailing arm across the face, but the referee waved away the appeal. Later on, fellow central defender, Christian Mosquera nodded over the crossbar.
Valencia CF turned up the intensity in terms of chances whilst in possession as they grew into the game. So much so, that Yunus Musah made a darting run into the box and enjoyed a one-on-one situation that was snuffed out by Masip.
Cenk Özkacar came mighty close to breaking the deadlock after getting on the end of an inviting André Almeida delivery, but his header went narrowly off target halfway through the first half.
Both sides kept on pushing to open the scoring in a sloppy closing spell where both sides tussled for the ball. Edinson Cavani latched onto a teasing José Luis Gayà delivery but the Uruguayan fired the ball over the crossbar.
The first half finished locked together at 0-0 with all to play for in the second half.
The game picked up where it left off in the second half in terms of intensity with a box to box stint in the early goings of the second half.
Alas, the opposition grew in the coming minutes forcing a catalogue of goal-saving stops by Giorigi Mamardsahvili to keep the scoreline at 0-0 over the hour mark at the Estadio José Zorrilla.
The match turned cagey in the final stages of the second half amidst stoppages as the tempo fell off. Gennaro Gatusso made wholesale changes for the remaining ten minutes of regulation time remaining.
Things took a turn for the worst when Clye Larin made it 1-0 to Real Valladolid in the dying embers of the game to as Valencia CF pick up yet another frustrating defeat in as many games.
Valencia CF will visit Real Madrid CF at the Bernabeú on Thursday at 9 pm kick-off time in the last fixture of the first term of the season.
