Match Report: Honours even away to Real Betis (1-1)

Diego López second half strike cancels out Ayoze's opener

Valencia CF travelled to Seville to visit Real Betis Balompié on the final day of the 22-23 season, Sunday 4th of June at the Estadio Benito Villamarín at 9 pm (CET) on Matchday 38 of LaLiga.

Valencia CF were off to the worst of starts in Seville after conceding an early goal with Ayoze Pérez making it 1-0 to Real Betis Balompié in the 2nd minute. Three minutes later, André Almeida thought to have scored, but he was flagged up for offside in the buildup.

Valencia CF struggled to find a foothold in the game but enjoyed a flurry of chances in the way of danger with André Almeida forcing Bravo into a save at the midway point of the first half and then, Valencia CF youngster, Javi Guerra tried his luck with a powerful effort which went off target

Valencia CF enjoyed more of the ball in the closing stages of the first half but lacked cutting edge up front with Samuel Lino as their main attacking outlet.

Valencia CF trailed Real Betis at half-time by a 1-0 scoreline.

Valencia CF had a slow start to the second half with the home side dominating the contest in the early goings of the second stanza. However, the contest evened out towards the hour mark with Lino heading it over.

Rubén Baraja made a double substitution with Thierry Correia and Samuel Lino making way for Alberto Marí and Dimitri Foulquier.

Valencia CF had a lengthy VAR check for a possible penalty not going their way as Gabriel Paulista was adjudged to be offside in the buildup and the penalty was not called.

Valencia CF levelled it up through Diego López who got on the end of a pin-point Nico González through ball and the youngster slotted it home past Claudio Bravo in the 71st minute.

Things took a turn for the worse as Yunus Musah was dismissed for a straight red card for a reckless challenge on Edgar just seconds after coming on and Valencia CF were reduced to ten men. Rubén Barja brought on Hugo Guillamón for André Almeida.

Valencia CF managed to hold out despite the lengthy stoppage and they confirmed their top-flight status as an underwhelming season comes to a close.
