Valencia CF got off to a shaky start to the game looking to find a foothold in the early goings of the game.

The game saw a spell of Valencia CF dominance in terms of possession going forward by taking the game to the opposition.

Yunus Musah sent Mestalla into raptures with a wonder goal from outside the box.

Alas,  Musah's goal was ruled out for a foul in the buildup to the goal.

Valencia CF refused to back down and kept penning Atletico Madrid back into their own area over the half-hour mark.

Valencia CF continued to dictate possession, enjoying chances as the floodgates opened.

Moments later, Thierry  Correia was shown a straight red for a foul on Morata but was downgraded to yellow after a VAR review.

The remainder of the half saw Valencia CF withstand a scare in the closing stages of the first half at Mestalla where Valencia CF had the upper hand.

The first half finished scoreless between both sides with all to play for in the second.

Valencia CF came quick off the blocks after the restart by taking the initiative and searching for the opening goal and breaking forward at every opportunity.

Valencia CF enjoyed a flurry of forays forward as they grew into the second half buoyed by the Mestalla faithful.

Antoine Griezmann made it 0-1 to Atletico Madrid against the run of play over the hour mark.

Valencia CF kept on pushing for an equaliser after the goal amidst a raft of stoppages.

Valencia CF upped the ante in possession and put in a valiant showing in the latter stages of the second half.

Alas, they fell to a narrow defeat to Atletico Madrid as the winning home start to the season came to a close.
