Medical Report: Cristiano Piccini
Cristiano Piccini underwent surgery this Tuesday, in a scheduled operation at the IMED Hospital in Valencia.
The procedure involved the removal of plates and screws from his right patella, used to treat a fracture that has left him sidelined during 2020.
The Italian defender will now undergo a programme of recovery and rehabilitation, with the hope that he will be available to help the team in the final 11 matches of the 2019/20 LaLiga season.
“This operation consisted of removing the plates and screws that were placed in my leg last August for the reconstruction of my patella,” Piccini said in a message on social media.
“I want to tell you that the operation went very well and I’m very happy. I’d had this operation in mind since the start, since my rehab began, because I knew that the plates and screws would have to be removed sooner or later. They started to bother me in the last two or three weeks, not allowing me to train consistently, so with the medical team and the coaching staff we decided that now was the best time. I will be back soon, thank you for your support.”
