'El Guaje' will mark his retirement with the honourary kickoff before Valencia CF vs. Real Betis and unveil a new facade at the stadium

Valencia CF legend David Villa brought his illustrious career to an end in January, and the club will pay a special tribute to one of their most prolific strikers of the last two decades in their next LaLiga match at Mestalla.

Accompanied by his family, Villa will take part in two acts before the game against Real Betis this Saturday. The first will be held at 3pm local time, when he will be present in the balcony at Mestalla to wave to fans and unveil a new canvas facade of his image, alongside those of other legendary players from the club's past.

After an institutional event in the VIP Box, which can be followed live on VCF Media, Villa will return to the pitch to what is sure to be a rapturous reception from supporters, as he takes the honourary kickoff for the league contest.

Recognised as one of Spain's greatest ever forwards, Villa spent five seasons at Valencia CF (2005-2010), scoring a total of 129 goals and winning the 2008 Copa del Rey. It was during this time that he would win the 2008 European Championships and 2010 World Cup with his country.
