R.I.P. Juan Cruz Sol (1947-2020)
Valencia CF are sad to announce the death of club legend Juan Cruz Sol, at the age of 73. Sol was a former player and Delegate for the club, and in recent years had occupied the role of Board Member and Ambassador, representing Valencia CF with immense pride.
Joining at the age of 16 from Elgóibar, he would go on to play close to 400 games for the team, across two separate spells. Amongst his many achievements with his beloved club, Sol would win the 1970/71 LaLiga title, the Copa, the European Cup Winners Cup and the European Supercup, as a cornerstone of the defence. He would also feature 28 times for the Spanish national team.
After hanging up his boots, he took on the position of Delegate at Valencia CF, moving on to the Board Member and Ambassador roles he held until his passing.
Juan Cruz Sol leaves behind an indelible mark on Valencia CF history, and will be much missed by all who knew him.
The club offer our deepest condolences to his family and friends.
Rest In Peace.
