Six points the difference for rivals VCF and Sevilla

The stakes are always high in games between the Matchday 11 foes

Games between Valencia CF and Sevilla always have a 'big match' feel, as the encounters pit two of the biggest sides in Spain against one another and every point counts in the battle for Champions League spots. When two of the most frequent Top 4 finishers in LaLiga meet,  the stakes are high.

As recently as last season, Valencia CF took a three point advantage over the southern Spanish team through results against them in two games, and they proved decisive as VCF qualified for the Champions League -two points ahead of sixth-placed Sevilla.

The match at Mestalla ended 1-1, with Mouctar Diakhaby scoring in the 92nd minute to level for VCF. On Matchday 29, the visit to the Sánchez Pizjuán concluded 0-1 through a Dani Parejo winner -bringing his team to within 3 points of the Andalusian team.

Before the midweek Matchday 11 encounter this season, the advantage is with Sevilla, holding a 6-point advantage, but a win would tighten things right up past the opening quarter of the campaign.
