Valencia CF goalkeepers talk return to training
Training for goalkeepers is a little different to that for outfield players -especially during the lockdown period in which they were exercising at home. Valencia CF’s three shotstoppers -Jaume Domenech, Jasper Cillesen and Cristian- spoke to VCF Media about the return to group training and regaining sharpness.

“The first day back, I felt like a kid on his first day of school,” said Cillessen, to which Cristian added that “In the end, two months training at home is very different to being out on the pitch.”
The goalkeepers all acknowledged that, to start with, they needed some time to readjust.

“On the first few days, what I found hardest was the work that we did in groups, in which the ball was moving around very fast. Above all, the speed at which every move was made was tricky,” admits Cristian.
“I’m feeling better all the time,” says Cillessen, whilst Jaume adds that “Being able to train in groups again, and get back amongst our teammates, doing more drills and training game situations, helps us to steadily get back to our best. My teammates look very focused and very convinced that in the 11 remaining games we can achieve our objective.”
