The Valencia CF Academy has been a protagonist at the ECA (European Club Association) meeting that took place in Lyon on 9 and 10 May, bringing together a wide representation of European clubs.

The director of the VCF Academy, Luis Martínez, and the Coordinator of Technical Areas, José Bargues, gave one of the presentations at this ECA Youth Knowledge Exchange in which they explained the methodology and philosophy of the VCF Academy.

The VCF Academy is one of the best in Europe in the training of players for the elite according to the latest reports from the CIES Football Observatory. Valencia CF is the sixth club that has trained the most players currently competing in the 5 main leagues: England, Germany, France, Italy and Spain.

"We have explained our methods to try to expose different situations that we work on and that we encounter on a day-to-day basis," said Luis Martínez who, together with José Bargues, explained the working method of the VCF Academy in a meeting in which Manchester City, Olympique Lyon, Shakhtar Donest and Independiente del Valle also presented their projects.

The different delegates have had the opportunity to learn and exchange with their colleagues about different practices at European level and have been able to learn key processes to implement in their own structures," explains Pouya Yaghoubinia, Football Development Manager at ECA.

The ECA Youth Strategy 2021-23 recognises that identifying and developing talented young players is one of the main functions of clubs in modern football and that a productive Academy system is key to long-term success.
