The starting XI for the game against Levante UD at the Pinatar Arena had a youthful feel to it. Eight of the initial lineup had experience of the VCF Academy, either as current members or graduates from the youth system. With the match against Levante UD coming just 24 hours after the win over Villarreal CF, rotations had been expected, and coach Javi Gracia used the opportunity to look at some future talents.
Kang In, Hugo Guillamón, Yunus, Guillem Molina, Alex Centelles, Alex Blanco, Pedro Alemañ and Alex Carbonell all participated from the get-go. Alemañ was playing his first minutes with the first team -as was second half substitute Hugo González. Both are members of the Juvenil side.
Several players featured are under the age of 20, including Kang In, who wore the captain's armband. Yunus, González and Alemañ are also still teenagers, but all gave an impressive showing against a team that boasted more experienced Primera División campaigners. The message is that there is a strong group of youngsters ready to make an impact.
