“We play for you, Valencia”
Cristhian Mosquera, Javi Guerra and Diego López will compete with Spain's Under-21 side
Cristhian Mosquera, Javi Guerra and Diego López, who have been called up by the Spain Under-21s for several international matches during the break, do so with their thoughts on Valencia in the aftermath of the severe weather tragedy that has hit the region.
After Valencia CF's LALIGA EA SPORTS match against Real Madrid CF was postponed, the team were clear about the next step to take.
“We wanted to go there to help and at the end of the Saturday training session, talking about it in the dressing room, the idea of going to support arose. Rubo-Picanya was one of the most affected towns, and a group of 10-12 players went there and to Paiporta to help in whatever way we could,” says Diego López.
“As a Valencian, it 'hits you inside' because you see how everyone has come out for their community. It is something to be proud of, and a lesson that all of Spain and Valencia have given. The region will emerge much stronger from all this,” adds Javi Guerra.
'La Rojita' play two international matches, against England and Denmark, respectively, in this fortnight.
“We will continue trying to contribute and we will play for them. We want to tell them that we are going to play, but with them in our minds. We are not going to forget about them. We are going to continue giving them visibility so that help continues to arrive. It is something for everyone. Together we are going to get through this and Valencia will return to being what the region has always been,” says Guerra
