The team win 2-3 on the road against UD Las Palmas
Valencia CF claimed a 2-3 victory over UD Las Palmas on LALIGA EA SPORTS Matchday 34 at the Estadio Gran Canaria, as Hugo Duro's brace and an own goal by the home side decided the contest.
The visitors came out determined, searching for the first goal of the game in the opening minutes and linking together passes in the opposition half. Rafa Mir became increasingly prominent in the Las Palmas penalty area, and in the 11th minute, connected with a fine dead ball through the defence. His shot, on the half-turn, was saved by the Las Palmas goalkeeper.
Diego López also tried his luck from the edge of the box after a quarter of an hour, as Valencia CF had more control and offensive punch. It was rewarded in the 21st minute, when Hugo Duro opened the scoring: A great long pass from Pepelu found José Luís Gayà, who crossed in. A shot from Luis Rioja was met by the goalkeeper, with Duro converting the follow-up to make it 0-1.
The home side pressed hard in the closing stages of the first half, increasingly gaining ground around Giorgi Mamardashvili's area, and in the 45th minute, VAR flagged a handball inside the Valencia CF and awarded a penalty. Sandro Ramírez converted the spot kick to take the score to 1-1.
After the break, Valencia CF maintained their offensive dominance. Mir and López both tried their luck, and at the hour mark, Duro was once again instrumental in restoring the lead. Mouctar Diakhaby sent the ball through for López to place it into the box, and Duro headed in.
In the closing stages, coach Carlos Corberán brought on players like Umar Sadiq, André Almeida, and Jesús Vázquez, and that energy led to the goal to make it 1-3. Almeida and Sadiq sent Diego López through, and his cross into the six-yard box took a touch off a defender, turning it into the UD Las Palmas goal.
In the 83rd minute, with the match headed towards its conclusion, Oli McBurnie reduced the deficit to 2-3 by heading a cross into the box inside the far post.
Valencia CF held on for an important away victory. They will play their next match on Saturday, May 10, against Getafe CF at Mestalla (2:00 PM).
