Ricardo Arias: “Playing the first match at Mestalla is a big boost - we have to take advantage of it”

The forward talks after scoring in the win against Getafe CF
Diego López scored again for Valencia CF in their win at Mestalla against Getafe CF, securing their top flight survival and bringing the team closer to the European places.
The victory
I think it was a fair result. Above all, because of how we played in the first half, in which we had already wrapped up the game. It's true that in the second half, because of the scoreline and the game in general, we slowed down a bit, which we really didn't want to happen, but the scoreline affects everything a bit. I'm very happy, above all, with the way we played in the first half, which was reflected in the goals and the three points.
New objectives
We can keep dreaming, right? We've earned the right to do that. It's because of all the work we've been doing, especially in the second half of the season, and taking things game by game, doing what we've been doing these past few months, which is working hard, believing in ourselves. Whatever will be, will be, but we have to continue with this dynamic in our work. We can't relax or believe that we are the best. We have to keep going, because it is nice -and it would be wonderful after the year of suffering we have had, to finish in the European places.
A great second half of the season
I think the second half of the season has been extraordinary. It's been at the level of a Champions League team's numbers, but it hasn't been a fluke. It's been a result of hard work, and now we have to continue like this so that in the remaining matches we can earn as many points as possible and finish as high up the table as possible. If it's in the European spots, then all the better. If we don't manage that, then the season we've had, given the way the first half of the season was, will have also been a great achievement.
His latest goal
I'm very happy with my total compared to the previous two seasons—especially the last full one, as there's quite a difference. I'm very happy to continue scoring goals and providing assists, but above all, to keep helping the team, which is the most important thing. Hopefully there will be many more.
The celebration with Hugo Duro
We had a deal that whoever scored would do the bowling. I was lucky and I scored first, so it was his turn. I think it was cool. I really like bowling; we also have a lot of fun there, and I hope we celebrate many more goals together.
There's also controversy because he holds the highest points record in bowling, but it was in a game I wasn't with him in. When playing against me, I hold the record, so I'm ahead. He always wants to win and always has to win.
