Match Report: Duro strikes late to earn share of points against Sevilla FC

The LaLiga contest ends 1-1 at Mestalla

Valencia CF's LaLiga Matchday 15 game against Sevilla FC at Mestalla ended 1-1, with Carlos Corberán's men equalising late on through Hugo Duro after going behind to a César Tárrega own goal just before the hour mark.

The game began with the soundtrack of the crowd chanting "Lubo, Lubo" in support of Valencia CF legend Lubo Penev, who has recently been hospitalised.

The first real chance fell to Sevilla FC, when Peque headed a cross from the penalty spot, forcing Juen Agirrezabala to make a great save to tip the ball over the bar for a corner.

Valencia CF enjoyed more possession and created more chances, but failed to find the net before halftime, leaving the score at 0-0.

SECOND HALF

Almost midway through the second half, bad luck struck when Oso sent in a cross from the left flank. Tárrega attempted a clearance from the ground, but the ball rebounded awkwardly and found its way into the net, making it 0-1 to Sevilla FC.

Carlos Corberán brought on Beltrán, Diego López, and Ugrinic to switch things up, then a few minutes later Ramazani also entered the fray.

Valencia CF reacted to the setback and created several chances. In one of them, Beltrán got into the area and was grabbed by Mendy, preventing him from getting a clean shot off, but a penalty was not awarded.

The team continued to press and force Sevilla FC into their own area. In the 90th minute, Beltrán almost equalised after a pass into the box from Diego López.

The goal finally came late in the game. Hugo Duro finished off a cross from Ugrinic inside the area to level, and the score remained 1-1 at the final whistle.

Next up, Valencia CF will visit Atlético de Madrid at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano on Saturday, December 13th at 2pm, on Matchday 15.
