Valencia CF legend Pepe Claramunt will perform the honorary kickoff at the club’s next match, to be played this Saturday, May 2, 2026, against Atlético de Madrid at Mestalla Stadium. It is also worth noting that this upcoming match will be Valencia CF’s 1,500th LALIGA game at Mestalla.

The man from Puçol has undoubtedly been one of the most important players in the history of Valencia CF. A Valencian, captain, international, undisputed starter, and one of the finest midfielders for the Mestalla side and in both national and international football. He wore the Valencia shirt for twelve seasons, making nearly 450 appearances and scoring 90 goals, as well as winning the 1967 Copa and the remarkable 1970–71 League title.
At international level, he made his debut for the Spanish senior national team at just 22 years of age, and his performances were such that he became the first Valencian to captain the Spanish National Team. He earned 23 caps and scored 4 goals.
