The goalkeeper talks after the 0-1 win at San Mamés
Valencia CF goalkeeper Stole Dimitrievski analysed the victory against Athletic Club on LaLiga Matchday 35
The win
“The points are very important; every match is crucial. We came here to fight, to work hard, and we were able to secure the victory thanks to everyone's effort. The whole team ran tirelessly, were disciplined, followed the coach's instructions, and we all rose to the occasion to win the game. I had won here before, and I know what it's like to suffer. The team were able to persevere, work hard, play well, and capitalise on our clinicalness in both penalty areas. We deserved this victory.”
Upcoming matches
“It’s about moving forward. When we haven’t played well, we’ve pushed hard, worked hard, and fought, and now we’re going to continue down the same path. The next match against Rayo Vallecano is very important at home, with our fans. We’re eager to win a match at Mestalla, to celebrate with the fans, to sing, to be together because they deserve it. This victory is also thanks to the fans who came to support us, who support us from home, everyone. We also have to enjoy fighting and suffering, because that’s what football and life are all about.”
Great saves
“With the help of all the goalkeepers, with Marcos Abad and Andoni Ochotorena working every day, we are trying to contribute and help from the goalkeeping position to earn points. Today, it happened, and we have to keep working as a group of goalkeepers, which is excellent, and we work very well to be up to the team's standard.”
Next match against Rayo Vallecano at Mestalla
“We’ve always wanted to win at home, to bring that joy to the fans. They deserve it more than anyone, to win and enjoy it, and to share that winning energy with them. It’s about playing, winning, and moving forward.”
