The Valencia Philharmonic Society honours Valencia CF at its tribute concert to Valencian institutional heritage
The Club was recognised for its status as a social, cultural and sporting benchmark for more than a century
“This Wednesday, May 20, 2026, Mestalla celebrates 103 years of history. More than 100 years ago, our Valencianista stadium opened its doors for the very first time.”
Mestalla takes its name from the main irrigation canal that once ran alongside its southern side — a canal that also passes by Nou Mestalla. It is also worth highlighting that the Valencianista stadium has hosted numerous national and international matches, as well as serving as a venue for the 1982 FIFA World Cup and a sub-venue for the 1992 Summer Olympics.
Another interesting fact is that Valencia CF played their 1,500th match at Camp de Mestalla during the 2025–26 season match against Atlético de Madrid. In addition, the Valencianista home ground is the stadium that has hosted the most La Liga matches in history (1,505).
