Mamardashvili and his record-breaking performance at EURO 2024

Mamardashvili will play his last match at the group stage on Wednesday.

Valencia CF goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili has started this Euro 2024 in style. In the match of his national team, Georgia, against Czech Republic, he was the MVP with a great performance.

The Georgian goalkeeper made 8 saves in the first half (6 from shots from inside the box). In doing so, he prevented a total of 2.26 expected goals. After the final whistle of the match, Mamardashvili was named player of the match, as he finished with 11 saves, the second best record in a group stage match at a European Championship.

The goalkeepers with the most saves in a Euro group stage match have been: Aleksandrs Kolinko (12 saves in 2004), Francesco Toldo (11 in 2000), Shay Given (11 in 2012) and Giorgi Mamardashvili (11 in 2024).

Georgia will face Portugal in the last match of Group F on Wednesday, June 26 at 21:00.

Throughout this season, it should be noted that Mamardashvili has become the best goalkeeper in LALIGA EA Sports 23-24, being the goalkeeper who has prevented the most expected goals (11.3). In addition, he is the che goalkeeper with the most consecutive starts in LALIGA (69) at VCF and has broken his own record for most clean sheets (13). He was also nominated for best U-23 player of the month in May.
