MATCH REPORT: Valencia CF victorious against Girona FC

The team take a 2-1 home win at Mestalla

Valencia CF's LaLiga EA SPORTS Matchday 32 against Girona FC at Mestalla ended 2-1 in their favour, as Largie Ramazani and Umar Sadiq scored the goals in the home win.

The first dangerous attack came from Valencia CF, when Sadiq got ahead of the Girona defence and goalkeeper Gazzaniga, delivering a pass to the penalty spot, but the visitors intercepted the testing ball in.

Valencia CF then created three more chances: A header from Pepelu from a corner, another from Lucas Beltrán that hit the post, and the last from Sadiq, who couldn't connect with a great cross from Ramazani into the box.

In this frantic spell, Carlos Corberán's men continued to create chances in the opposition area, although a goal didn't come. In the thirtieth minute, Sadiq had another opportunity, but his shot went wide of the post.

The game entered a stop-start spell with several fouls; however, Valencia CF got a counter-attack underway in stoppage time, but couldn't finish it off.

In the final moments, Girona FC came close to scoring the first goal of the match with a free kick from Echeverri that went just wide of Dimitrievski's right post.

SECOND HALF

The first chance of the second half also went Valencia CF's way and the opening goal came from that same attack. Javi Guerra spotted Ramazani unmarked, freeing him with a well placed ball, and the Belgian drove forward, entered the box, and finished perfectly into the far corner past Gazzaniga to make it 1-0.

Shortly after, Dimitrievski made a crucial save to deny Arnau's Martinez' long-range effort.

Then came the second goal for Valencia CF, as José Luis Gayà surged down the left flank, delivered a cross, and Sadiq headed home to increase the lead to 2-0.

Three minutes later, Girona FC reduced the advantage with a goal from substitute Roca, who capitalised on a low cross from the right flank.

Ugrinic and Diego López entered the game in the first substitutions for Valencia CF, followed swiftly by Unai Nuñez and Hugo Duro.

The game returned to a speedy pace, and Valencia CF created several more chances, although they couldn't find the third goal at Mestalla. Girona also had their opportunities, but Valencia CF showed their resilience in defence.

Duro almost restored a two-goal lead with a header that was blocked by a Girona FC defender.

On the very next move, Dimitrievski saved the day with a fantastic point-blank save from Stuani. At the other end, Duro had an effort blocked by the visiting defence, and the game ended 2-1.

Next up, Valencia CF travel to Atletico Madrid on Saturday, May 3rd.
