Valencia CF got the victory (1-3) against CF Benidorm in the post-season friendly match, played at the Estadio Municipal Guillermo Amor (Benidorm). The Valencian team closes the 23-24 season by lifting the 'Juan Fuster Zaragoza Trophy'.
The match started with the first goal for Valencia CF. In the 4th minute of the match, Diego Moreno took height on his left flank, combined with Martín Tejón and crossed to the CF Benidorm area, the Benidorm center back Mario I. tried to clear the ball, but he missed and put the ball into his goal. A few minutes later, the second almost came for the Valencian team. Hugo González took a cross from the right flank and Joselu came close to finishing it at the near post.
Then came the second goal for Valencia CF. Valencia CF counterattacked and a combination between Borja Calvo and Joselu extended the lead on the scoreboard. Borja assisted and Joselu, close to the penalty spot, placed it low against the left post of the rival goal.
After the break, CF Benidorm came close to scoring when Javi Cabezas' header hit the post of the goal defended by Vicent Abril. Valencia CF's first action in the second half came with a cross from Pablo Lopez that Hugo Gonzalez headed just wide. Shortly after, Joselu came close to scoring his second goal of the afternoon in an action in which he broke free behind the rival defense and from the right side of the CF Benidorm area struck, but it went wide. The dominance and control of the game continued throughout the second half and in the 78th minute came the goal of Joselu after another cross from Pablo Lopez.
However, a few moments later came the first goal of CF Benidorm in the feet of Javi Cabezas after a combination of Benidorm in the Valencianista area. Minutes later, the match and the 23-24 season for Valencia CF came to an end.
Prior to the start of the match, the president of Valencia CF, Layhoon Chan, and the president of CF Benidorm, Jordi Bruixola, together with Valencia CF legend Claudio 'Piojo' López, exchanged a commemorative picture of the match and a CF Benidorm shirt.
