Nou Mestalla welcomes Otis as Stadium Partner, the world’s leading elevator company

The agreement with the company, responsible for the installation of 19 elevators, will enhance the fan experience with next-generation mobility solutions

Nou Mestalla welcomes Otis as Stadium Partner in a strategic alliance aimed at equipping the stadium with advanced vertical mobility solutions that will be key to improving the fan experience, internal operations and universal accessibility in a next-generation sports venue.

As part of this agreement, Otis will be responsible for the installation of 19 elevators, specifically designed for a high-traffic environment, intensive use and highly concentrated demand peaks over short periods of time. The agreement also includes maintenance of the equipment for five years, ensuring a service of the highest quality.

A total of 10 of these elevators will be distributed around the perimeter of the stadium to guarantee homogeneous access coverage and minimize unnecessary pedestrian routes. These units will serve all levels of the stadium —lower, middle and upper tiers— substantially improving vertical mobility compared to Mestalla, which currently only has one elevator with access to the upper tier.

The selected elevators are based on Otis Gen3™ technology, a solution particularly suited to buildings and venues with intensive use. These are machine-room-less elevators, allowing more flexible and efficient architectural integration while optimizing the available space within the stadium.

In addition, Nou Mestalla will feature 6 elevators exclusively for Hospitality areas, designed to provide a more direct, controlled and comfortable service to boxes, premium areas and corporate spaces. The vertical mobility system is completed with the installation of 3 freight elevators dedicated to the stadium’s internal logistics.

REAL-TIME MONITORING, SAFETY AND RELIABILITY

All elevators at Nou Mestalla will be equipped with advanced monitoring and diagnostic systems, allowing real-time supervision of equipment status and enabling potential issues to be anticipated before they affect the service. This connectivity is particularly relevant in a stadium, where system reliability is critical during peak attendance moments.

In terms of safety, the systems include:

  • Automatic rescue systems with batteries which, in the event of a power outage, move the cabin to the nearest floor and allow safe door opening.
  • Two-way communication systems for assistance in case of emergency.
  • Components designed to withstand a high number of operating cycles, typical in sports facilities.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND SUSTAINABILITY

The selected models also stand out for their energy efficiency, with significantly lower consumption than conventional elevators. Technologies such as the ReGen system allow part of the energy generated during elevator operation to be reused, helping to reduce the stadium’s electricity demand and aligning with the project’s sustainability goals.

OTIS’ EXPERIENCE IN MAJOR SPORTS VENUES

With more than 170 years of history, Otis is a global benchmark in mobility solutions for complex, high-traffic infrastructures. Its systems are present in some of the most iconic stadiums and sports arenas worldwide, where the efficient movement of thousands of people within minutes is a critical factor in the overall fan experience.

The incorporation of Otis as Stadium Partner reinforces Nou Mestalla’s commitment to a stadium that is accessible, safe and ready for the future, where vertical mobility becomes a key element of the overall fan experience.
