Otorbi: "I'm very excited about my contract extension"

VCF Academy product and first team sensation David Otorbi spoke to VCF Media Radio after signing his new contract extension through to June 2031, explaining what it means to commit his long term future to the Valencia CF.

The extension

“I feel great, and my parents are very happy too. It has taken years of hard work to get to this point. Since making my debut, I have improved in many areas. Making your debut is 'easy,' but sticking around is a different story; you have to make the most of your opportunities by training as hard as you can and showing the coach that you are motivated. I’m very excited because the club have placed a lot of confidence in me; they believe I will continue to improve and help the team in the future.”

Training with the first team

“We're training very hard. Since he arrived, Javier Aguirre has given me a lot of confidence. He has always been there for us, instilling a great deal of energy and fighting spirit -he really wants us to win matches. He tells us that, even though this is a difficult period, we will get through it, and he encourages us to stay calm.”

Progress

“I remember a training session back when I was in the Cadete team, when Miguel Ángel Angulo brought me up to train with VCF Mestalla. Javi Guerra was there too, and, suddenly, a few months later, he was training with the first team. Now, the Cadete players come up to me and ask me how I made it to the first team, and I tell them: Through hard work, enthusiasm, patience, and drive.”

His advice to VCF Academy players

“I'd tell them to have patience and stay calm, because their moment will come, and to keep working and giving it their all.”

The fans

“The fans should keep calm, give us energy through their encouragement, and keep supporting us -because we are going to bring them joy in return.”
