Pepelu: "We have to become a more stable team and get the win"
The versatile Valencia CF player assesses the game against Athletic Club
Pepelu gave his assessment of the 0-0 result against Athletic Club after the game at Mestalla.
STEADY IMPROVEMENT
“It’s a pity. I think the team grew into the game. We made adjustments to our pressing, which we weren’t executing well in the first half. Above all, the team started to believe in ourselves; we played with a direct approach and kept pushing toward the opposition goal. In the end, we just couldn’t find the back of the net, and we’re left with that bittersweet feeling of having come so close without securing the win.”
GETTING CLOSE TO VICTORY
“The second half showed us that when the team click, play dynamically, and show real intent, we are getting very close to winning games. Now, it’s time to focus on the next match, give it our best, and take the win.”
CONTINUING TO IMPROVE
“You always have to focus on the positives. But, given our current situation, we need wins -there’s no getting around that. We can take away the fact that we kept a clean sheet and that the team have been growing, but we must keep improving; there are still areas to work on if we want to become a more consistent side and secure that win that we want.”
THE NEXT GAME AGAINST VILLARREAL
“It’s a special game, in that it's a regional derby and at Mestalla. We’re really eager to deliver our first win here for the fans; they deserve it, and they give us so much, both on and off the pitch. We'll have to give our all and go for it.”
VERSATILITY
“As I’ve always said, I just want to help the team. I play wherever I’m asked to. I try to contribute in any way I can so that the team improve and perform well.”
