The first pillars for the Nou Mestalla roof structure arrive on site
The works on Valencia CF’s future stadium enter a new phase with these 38-metre elements, which will form the main structural columns
The first structural pillars that will support the large roof of the future Valencianista stadium have arrived this Monday, 24 November, at the Nou Mestalla site. These 38-metre elements will form the main columns of the new stadium.
These pieces, 38 metres in height, travel in special convoys: high-tonnage trucks that take between two and four days to complete the journey to Valencia and that travel escorted by pilot cars from the Horta Coslada plant in Arteixo (Galicia).
There, more than 900 kilometres from the Nou Mestalla, the leading company in design, manufacturing, engineering and assembly produces, under the guidelines of FCC Construcción, the main elements that make up this new phase of the construction, which will allow the construction progress to be perceived even more clearly in the coming weeks.
Since early on 12 November, the plates have also begun to arrive at the Nou Mestalla. These pieces, weighing up to 7 tonnes and measuring around 2 metres in length, are base elements that serve as anchoring points to the ground for the later installation of each of the pillars that will support the 4,800 tonnes of weight of the roof. Their installation began on the very day of their arrival, starting from the north area of the stadium.
From this Monday onwards, the construction works advance with the arrival of the first pillars, and the expectation is that more pieces and key elements will continue to arrive in the coming days for the installation of the 50 S355 steel pillars, as well as for their lifting. The stair towers and the structural ring that will shape the large roof of the Nou Mestalla will follow.
Once inaugurated in 2027, the future Valencianista stadium will become a point of reference in sport, leisure and entertainment not only for Valencia CF and their fans, but also for the city of Valencia, developing major year-round activity with a segmented offer for all audiences during the 365 days of the year.
